Welcome back to the True For You podcast. We are on day two of 40. We're doing a 40-day practice together. 40 is a sacred number, and in yoga, traditionally sadhanas or a spiritual practice that leads to realization are done in 40-day cycles. So we're gonna walk through 40 days together. I am holding myself accountable to recording a five-minute podcast for 40 days about sadhana to show up for you and to show up for myself.
And day two is all about intention, so the why behind why would you lean into a personal practice. And what's important about intention is it doesn't just have to be the why behind something. It can be what is gonna motivate you to show up, and we're not always motivated to show up. But for me I have some people that are going to be expecting a five-minute podcast every day that are walking through this with me.
And I want to shout out to my friend Kate Lemay, the artist of Conscious Evolution. Kate is a YMCA camp director and the leader, one of the co-leaders of the Enjoy the Journey retreats. And I am a host of one of the retreats. They're all based on Kate's art. And Kate is one of the biggest cheerleaders in my life, and I hope that I am one for her. And she needs help for people holding her accountable as well. So doing something in a collective with somebody else, having an accountability buddy can help you show up with intent.
And another thing about intention is it's important that you write it down and ideally have it somewhere where you can see it and return to it. Because sometimes you set an intention like, how can I cultivate more peace in my life? Or I want more peace in my life. And what happens sometimes throughout the course of a 40-day practice is you get everything but peace coming across your path, right? So it's opportunities to practice peace when it's not always going to be something that's readily available to you.
So how do you tap in to your breath? How do you become aware of your body's reactions? How can you feel peaceful in a chaotic or stressful moment? How do you carve out those little peace snacks right throughout your day? Maybe it's consciously breathing three deep breaths. Maybe it's You know, reaching out to a friend and, um, that kind of brings you that, that feeling, that moment of peace. So whatever it is that you set for your intention for a practice, write it down, return to it, check in with it periodically, and kind of let it work its magic on you. If you were to sit with the idea of peace for 40 days, you might come out of the 40 days with a lot of feedback and noticing your patterns and things that have nothing to do with peace, right? But just showing up and, and trying to focus on that allows you to ground it a little bit more.
Week one's all about grounding, in your intention, in your why, and in just showing up and being there for yourself. So if you're following along for these 40 days, let me know what your intention is. And, I like to take the first week to kind of figure out. Sometimes an intention pops in. Sometimes you need to just choose one and, uh, roll with it. So, that's day two. Let me know if you have any questions. I would love to hear from you, and I'll be back tomorrow for day three. Take care.
