Welcome to the True For You podcast. I'm your host, Renee Cupples, and this is season three, episode three. We're on day three of 40, where I'm going to be guiding you through the process of a 40-day sadhana, a sadhana is a 40-day practice, a traditional practice in yoga, and it usually involves some sort of movement, meditation, breathwork, and maybe some processing after. But sadhana, in the way that I learned it, can really be anything, any dedicated practice, and the goal is to lead to self-realization.

So day one, we went through what is sadhana. Day two, our focus was on intention, the why behind why would you lean into a practice like this. And day three is gonna be all about the how, so the basics of sadhana, right? Kinda breaking it down, laying the foundation in the first week. How are you gonna go about leaning into your practice? When you set an intention of why you're showing up for something, how are you going to follow through on that intention? So, for example, if your intention is to cultivate more peace in your life, how are you going to carve out time in your day to focus on that intention? What types of things are you going to be leaning into for your practice to allow yourself time and space to be with that idea of peace? And make room and make space and make time for the reason you're showing up, to allow yourself to show up for it.

And obviously, life events and things are going to get in the way, but when it becomes a non-negotiable that is often why sadhana is something that's done when you first wake up. Because there's something magical about that quiet, right before you begin your day. You can even set your intention for each specific day. Maybe you just wake up and say thank you for, for another day, right? And that immediately starts to set the tone. And a lot of times I would notice myself with sadhana avoiding it if I didn't do it first in the morning, kinda putting it off throughout the day, throughout the day, and then it would be toward the end of the day before bedtime and just being too tired to devote the time to it. But it really doesn't matter as long as you're doing it, as long as you're intentional.

Ideally, you wanna schedule it into your day, so that it is something that you know you can check off. There's maybe that little bit of dopamine hit, right, in being able to check something off and knowing that you did it. And I often find if I start my day with something that's more intentional, the rest of the day is more in integrity with the life that I wanna be living and really living and leading from that place where I'm taking care of myself first, I'm filling my cup first, and I'm able to serve and provide for others and not have to feel depleted.

So maybe ask yourself, "How do I want this practice to look?" Right? "What, what do I want it to feel like? What do I wanna feel like doing it?" You might not always feel like that, right? But really pouring that love and that attention in to your intention, into your why, and getting clear about the how. I'm going to wake up at this time, and I'm going to complete this practice in this amount of time. I'm gonna do it. And write it down exactly the steps that you're gonna do. Even if you don't do those exact things every day, write, writing it down and holding yourself accountable. Tell a friend. Post it, right? Make it so that other people know what you're doing, and maybe ask others for help in holding you accountable to that practice. Saying it out loud gives it a lot of power and can often help you, help you follow through. So that's our day three wisdom today, all about the how. Share with me how you are gonna honor that intention. Get specific about that intention. Not only why is that your intention, but how are you going to follow through? And I'll see you back here tomorrow for day four. Take care.
